Kids….energy…. let em play!

I have been spending the week with kids. Young kids. They have energy. They eat lots and run . They leap off of tire swings from picnic tables and don’t hurt for three days. They make jokes that aren’t funny and it doesn’t matter. They don’t wash their face and No one thinks them odd for it. They seem to reenergize with frozen yogurt and ice cream sandwiches. Life is so simple and they don’t even know they have it made. They don’t know what they should appreciate, it’s just life to them. When they are old enough to get it, they are like us and wish they could go back. I sit and watch them run and laugh and play and remember the farm. We played cops and robbers. The robbers got the only 2 bikes we had. The cops had to run after them. There were 4 kids and only 2 hand me down bikes. I never had a new bike until I was well in my 50’s. My idea of a great day was playing outside till the sunset. We played imagination games. We laughed and ran in the woods. Grandma was our life guard in a river than we couldn’t drown in anyway… maybe Solomon was thinking of that when he said remember now thy creator in the days of thy youth. The things I learned about God I remember in great detail. My brain cells aren’t as great now… Kids, youth, fun, enjoy watching them and please let kids be kids. We all grow up too fast….
